Stoke boss Mark Hughes insists Jese is still part of his plans despite bust-up between pair

JESE is still very much part of Mark Hughes’ plans despite their bust-up

Hughes was very annoyed at the Spaniard’s behaviour when he headed up the tunnel before the end of last week’s win over Swansea.

Jese, 24, was apparently fed up at being an unused sub.

Off the field the striker had to head back to Spain because of on-going concerns about the health of his new-born son.

So all is not well with the player on a season-long loan at Stoke from Paris Saint-Germain.

But Hughes said: “Hopefully he will be back soon – we’re not thinking of him moving to different clubs or wherever. He’s still very much in my plans.

“We see his talent every day, but he hadn’t had the impact that we – and he probably – felt that he needed to show for a couple of weeks and he’s been out of the team.

“He’s just got to be patient. I brought him on against Liverpool because we were chasing the game, so he was an attacking substitution.

“He didn’t get the nod at the weekend [v Swansea] because it was a different situation where we were looking to protect a lead.

“That’s what happens. Circumstances will dictate who I bring on and who goes off.

“I felt given Ramadan’s style of play and his attitude to what needed to be done at that time was the better option.

“That was borne out by the fact we were able to protect the lead and win the game, so I would suggest it was the right decision

“But sometimes players will only see the fact they haven’t got the opportunity to do what they can do.

“If they don’t get on they get frustrate, but deep down he knew it was the incorrect thing to do and he held his hand up.”

Stoke are at Tottenham on Saturday.
