And the Daily Mail reports that Can is closing in on a move to Turin this weekend.

Liverpool signed the former Bayer Leverkusen playmaker in 2014 for a modest fee.

He has developed into a key figure in midfield and was sorely missed at times as he struggled with injury this season.

Jurgen Klopp has already signed Fabinho from Monaco to replace Can after several attempts to persuade his compatriot to stay.

He helped them to win the Ligue 1 title just over a year ago as the Principality also reached the last four of the Champions League.

The Reds have also brought in Naby Keita from RB Leipzig for £52.75m in a move which was agreed last summer.
