Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez flashes abs as he gears up for pre-season with beach run in Rio

ALEXIS SANCHEZ proved he is making the most of his World Cup absence by showing off his ripped six-pack.

The Manchester United man has been training hard after Chile failed to qualify for the tournament in Russia.

Sanchez was heavily criticised for his under-par performances following his big-money move in January.

And it appears he is ready to make a return to pre-season in top condition after hitting the beaches in Rio De Janeiro.

The 29-year-old took to Instagram to prove he is ditching the fast food for fast runs.

He uploaded a series of stories on the social media site as he worked up a sweat in the Rio heat wearing ankle weights.

Sanchez couldn’t resist lifting up his shirt to expose his six-pack signalling he is at the peak of his fitness.

Last week he was back in his native Chile scaling mountains with his two dogs Atom and Humber.

He was in Tocopilla, in the northern region of Antofagasta, putting himself through a gruelling training programme.

But he’ll be sure to tune in to watch team-mate Romelu Lukaku help fire Belgium into the quarter-finals when they face Japan on Monday night.

His strike partner already has four goals in the tournament and Sanchez has backed him to win the Golden Boot.

He told Fox Sports: “I want Belgium to win the World Cup, for my friend Lukaku.

“We’re very close friends, we always talk and go out for dinner in England. We have a great friendship. We talk about the team a lot to be able to improve it.

“He’s sharp, he’s on fire and I hope he wins the Golden Boot.”
